Andrea Burns is extremely passionate about all things bookish. This includes children’s literature, the smell of a brand new book, or adding new picture and chapter books to her already full bookshelf. Andrea’s love for books was inspired by her mother and her teachers. Her mother took her to bookstores for fun when she was younger and taught her that there is excitement and adventure in each and every book. Andrea’s teachers inspired her and they always taught her the importance of getting lost in a book. OH and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read). This led her to wanting to become a teacher. She graduated from The University of Kansas (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk)!

Andrea now lives in Kansas. Andrea taught for eight years. She has a Masters of Science in Curriculum & Instruction and loves to continually learn new things!  Andrea currently is a book buyer for a local store in Kansas City. She is pursuing her passions and is excited to make her bookish lifestyle a full-time gig! She enjoys spending time with her husband and her adorable labradoodle, Bogey. 

Andrea wants to share her story and to inspire other teachers to build positive relationships with their students. This led her to wanting to write books. Andrea’s dream of becoming an author has finally become a reality. Andrea wants to use her voice to influence the next generation of kiddos aka the change makers. She wants all kids to believe in themselves, no matter the circumstance. Andrea wants kids to feel empowered and to put the spotlight on the teachers that make a difference in their lives.
